During the month of April 2016, Golf Club Zeewolde was equipped with a Phytobac® installation, becoming the first in the Netherlands. Christian Nueboer, at the age of 24 the youngest head greenkeeper of the Netherlands, feels this is the way forward towards the Green Deal programme. "In all of Europe, we are have the lead in reducing point source emissions."

The Phytobac in Zeewolde was realised in close collaboration with the NLadviseurs consultancy agency. "In their view, the ideal golf course is a course where a very minimum of plant protection products is applied", says Bayer CropScience's Michel Wimmers. "In contradiction to popular belief, usage of plant protection products can actually be quite sustainable. By the correct and precise application of plant protection products a significant cost reduction on maintenance can be effected, resulting in equipment being used less frequently and thus preventing unnecessary Co2 emissions. From our point of view the Phytobac fits into our vision on sustainability seamlessly."
